BLACK VEILED WOMAN [SHORTFILM & INSTALLATION]
Black Veiled Woman was originally shot as a short film, but later also became the centerpiece of an audiovisual installation titled “Appearance & Reality” that confronts the audience with their own prejudice. The installation was first showcased by the Critical Art Ensemble at dOCUMENTA in 2012 and later traveled to other exhibitions.

SHORT FILM
The video makes you face your own Prejudice while the camera follows a black veiled woman on a hot summer day, wearing two heavy grocery bags, as she walks down a busy shopping street. As she is walking in her long black robe we see her turn into a side street, and yet another side street, and then we hear a call to prayer as the woman turns around and looks into the camera…
DOCUMENTA13 INSTALLATION
Here a few pictures documenting the preparation of the installation “Appearance & Reality” at DOCUMENTA in Kassel in 2012 which was featured in the Art Space curated by Critical Art Ensemble. Doll Installation
Black Veiled Woman was integrated into a different form of installation for AUTODIKTAT Video Exhibition in Berlin in 2014, Parallele Vienna in 2016, and Kettenreaktion In Switzerland in 2016.
